ABOUT

No handoffs.
Serious systems.

Monet Labs builds software for domains where a quiet mistake is expensive: gambling math, lending ledgers, clinical records, freight settlements. No handoffs: the people who scope the work are the people who write it.

Why the range looks strange

A slot engine and a lending CRM do not look like the same business. Underneath they are the same problem: a number that has to be exactly right, produced by a process somebody else is entitled to audit, in a system where the client is not allowed to be the source of truth.

Get good at that and the domain stops mattering very much. A payout book and a payables ledger fail in the same four ways: rounding, ordering, retries, and partial failure. We have written the same defense against all four enough times to build the tools that enforce it automatically.

Which is why we build agent tooling

We ship at the pace we do because coding agents do most of the typing. That only works if the agent gets stopped before we do, so we built the layer that stops it. It is open source, it has no dependencies, and it is the same layer running on every project on this site.

We are not neutral about this. An agent without enforcement is a very fast way to produce confident, plausible, wrong code. The enforcement is the whole difference.

01WHAT WE HOLD
01

Evidence before code

The diagnosis and what confirms it, before the first edit. A fix can be correct while the reason given for it is false, and the false reason is the thing that propagates into the next three decisions.

02

Invariants are the product

Money in integer minor units, inside a transaction. Every tenant query filtered. Whoever creates a payable cannot approve it. Features are what you demo. Invariants are what keeps you out of court.

03

Say what red looks like

Before running a check, say what failure would look like. A green result from a check that could not have failed is not evidence. It is the most common way a team ships a bug with full confidence.

04

Smallest correct change

Fix the actual bug. Do not refactor the neighborhood on the way past. A diff that does two things is a diff nobody can review and nobody can revert cleanly.

05

Report faithfully

If a test failed, we say so and paste the output. If a step was skipped, we say that. Nobody has ever been helped by a status update that was more optimistic than the repository.

06

You own all of it

Your repository, your cloud accounts, your keys, from the first commit. No proprietary layer, no hosting hostage, no retainer required to keep it running. If we stop tomorrow you lose nothing but us.

ASK MONET

If that sounds like
your kind of team.

Ask how we actually work week to week: what you get, what you own, and what happens if you want to take it elsewhere.
